6 Things Every Mum Should Do To Feel Awesome

Being a mother is probably the biggest responsibility to have in the world, and it’s such a rewarding job to have. But just because you have to be responsible all the time, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun anymore! Here are our 6 Things Every Mum Should Do To Feel Awesome:

1) Social life

If you’ve just had a baby, then having a social life is understandably your last priority, but it is so important! Just because you’re a Mum now doesn’t mean you have to stop talking to your friends and hide away forever. By maintaining your social life, you will not only keep up to date with all the gossip, but it’ll also keep you sane too! Call your friends when the baby is sleeping or meet up at a cafe. Mother’s groups are also a great way to stay social. Once your kids are older, put a monthly catch up into your diary with your friends. 

2) Go out

Take trips out, go to the park with your child, have a game of tag together, or play ball. Being an adult, we seem to have forgotten how much fun it was to run around without a care in the world. That’s why it’s so magical when you have children; they make you remember what it feels like to live in the moment.

3) Ask for help

Mothers sometimes feel that asking for help means they aren’t capable, but that’s not the case at all. We all need a break sometimes, and there’s nothing wrong with admitting that! So ask your parents, your best friend, or that reliable child care you heard the other Mothers talking about. Take a load off, relax, have a romantic night out with your other half… Or sleep in all day!

4) Eat well and sleep better

Because you’re always on the go, you may forget to eat, or you’ll just have a little snack (or greasy take away) instead of a proper dinner. That’s no good. Eating well is what helps you function, and not only that, it has a big impact on your mood. If you’re feeling worn down and grouchy, ask yourself when was the last time you had a real meal – you’d be surprised. Eating correctly also gives you a better chance of a good night’s sleep, and we all know how precious that is, especially when you’re a Mum.

5) Stay fit

Keeping active has been proven to release endorphins in our brain which makes us feel a lot happier. Plus, you will be one fit Momma! You don’t even have to go to the gym; you could just take a walk, try your hand at boxing, or pull out that dusty fitness DVD and have a boogie! Doing things like this will not only help your body, but you will also see an improvement in your confidence, and who doesn’t want that?

6) Laugh!

Laughter is the best medicine, right? But did you know it can actually improve your health? It causes healthy physical and emotional changes in the body, diminishes pain, relieves stress, strengthens the immune system, and just generally makes us feel awesome! So laugh more – it’s not gonna kill ya!
