Brazilian Feijoada

Who doesn’t love to eat Ribs when it’s cold outside? Brazilian Feijoada is a great winter warming recipe to feed the whole family. This fab one pot dinner will have everyone licking their plates and asking for more. It’s surprisingly simple to make, with just 4 steps, but is a sure fire winner. Prep time: 10 mins, cooking time: 90 mins, serves 6  


  • - 2 tsp oil
  • - 1.2 kg pork or beef ribs
  • - 1 chorizo, chopped
  • - 1 rasher bacon, chopped
  • - 1 x pack Continental Chilli Con Carne Recipe Base
  • - 4 cups (1 litre) water
  • - 2 carrots, thickly sliced
  • - 2 sticks celery, thickly sliced
  • - 1 x 400g can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • - ¼ cup chopped coriander or parsley for garnish
  • - steamed rice and silverbeat to serve


  • 1)    Heat oil in a large saucepan and brown ribs, chorizo and bacon.
  • 2)   Add Recipe Base, water, carrots and celery and bring to the boil. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  • 3)   Remove lid and simmer uncovered for a further 30 minutes until sauce has thickened. Stir through beans and heat through.
  • 4)   Top the Brazilian Feijoada with coriander or parsley and serve with rice and silverbeet.
