The Roadtest – We know that you are pretty busy so here is what we loved in 17 Bright Ideas style:

Kids Loved It! – I will confess even before we knew about this Roadtest my kids wanted one of these.  They had seen the ad on TV and it was already on the wish list sent to Santa.  Once we had it in the house they could not wait to try it out.  They were jumping on me trying to help me roadtest it.

It works so quickly – I will admit I was slightly sceptical about this one however it actually does make ice cream and slushy’s in a matter of minutes.  I ( Sue) tested the Ice Cream Maker and Vicki tested the Slushie maker.  We found that both worked well and very quickly.  I made chocolate ice cream using cream and Fanks chocolate powder.  I did slightly overfill mine and it come out the top a bit so I suggest following the instructions, but I got ice cream (soft) in about 1 minute.  If you keep squeezing you get harder ice cream.  Vicki and her kids made slushies in record time.  It was fabulous.  The kids absolutely had so much fun making it and squeezing it and the result tasted great.

Quality – ok this is not  machine you are going to use to make ice cream for a fancy dinner party but for delicious soft serve ice cream that kids love to eat it was fabulous.  The slushies were icy, cold and quick – what more could you ask for!

Variety – The variety of ice creams and slushies you can make is really only limited to your imagination.  The makers do come with a recipe book.  To be honest I got a bit excited over my testing and tried out loads of different things to see if they would work – milk, diet coke, cold coffee, juice and they all iced up slushie style.   The yoghurt and cream were more ice cream like. Its a bit addictive really and great fun.  Kids got  bit annoyed that I was stealing their maker.

The only downside – one per child is best unless your kids are really good at sharing.

Have they been a Bright Idea?

Absolutely.   It was fun to use, the kids loved the noevely of making their own slushies and ice cream and it was simple and easy to use.

Who are they a Bright Idea for?

Boys or Girls aged 3 and over.  At this price point it also makes a fabulous Christmas Gift for both boys and girls, and that kid who has everything.
