As a parent, we only genuinely want what is best for our children, don’t we? We want to ensure that we give them the best start in life, teach them right from wrong, and help them be mould into the adults we only dream they would be. But, sometimes life can get hectic, things can be said, bad habits can be made, and while they are not intentional, we can often go about things in the wrong way. I wanted to share with you how everyday things can have such a positive influence on your children’s lives, and they may seem small or insignificant, but the positive habits can be made from them. I hope it gives you a little inspiration and joy that what you do every day is enough.
It may sound obvious, but as parents, we encourage general hygiene on a day to day basis. We will encourage our children to brush their teeth daily, wash their faces, wash their hands before meals and after bathroom visits. It’s necessary things, but without you as a parent to guide them, how would they know what to do? Even encouraging regular dental visits can be a struggle, and you can find out more about plans you can put in place for your family, but the regular visits alongside other places like the optician, the doctor, and the hairdressers are all encouraging healthy habits with your children and something they will take with them throughout their lives.
The Use Of Positive Language
How you speak generally to the family, to your children and how you react to certain situations can have an effect on your children and how they think. It might be a crazy thing to consider, but it actually works. A positive mindset can be a great tool to have, and the habits you create by talking positively, having a good outlook on life and your reactions to things will rub off on your children. Helping them to take on the positivity in their lives. From the feeling defeated at school or rising to the challenges, to later on in life. We have no idea what the future holds, but giving them the tools to handle things in the right way is a parenting win for you.
The Structure Of A Routine
The routine you have in place is encouraging positive habits, and you may not even realise it. The fact that you encourage good eating habits, and regular meals. The fact that you encourage children to get dressed and get ready for school or be accountable for their actions. The routines you have in place for a calming bedtime, it can all teach them things and the habits they create now, will help them in their future. From knowing how to take care of their wellbeing and making self-care a priority in their lives. From knowing that they need to eat healthily and regularly to give their body what it needs to function. Everyday things you will be doing without realising you are helping your child to develop good habits for the future.
Sometimes you have to know when to celebrate the small victories, and what you do each and every day is worth celebrating and create positive habits in your children.
