How To Exercise Without Even Realizing It

Trying to stay fit and healthy is always an uphill battle. Even if you can stick to a diet plan, trying to get enough exercise in is a struggle. Running on a treadmill or going on an exercise bike is pretty boring, especially if you’re doing it regularly. But that’s not the only way to exercise. Anything that raises your heart rate by a significant amount is good exercise so it could be anything. The trick is finding activities that don’t feel like exercise and learning to love it. Here are some great ways to exercise without even realizing it

Standing Desk

During the work day is the time when we’re least active. If you work in an office and you’re sat at a desk all day, you won’t be burning any calories at all. You’re also more likely to snack at your desk so overall, you’re likely to be gaining weight. However, if you’re standing, you’re constantly burning through calories. If you get a standing desk instead of a normal one, you’ll be burning fat all day long. It’s also way better for your posture to stand instead of sit.

Dancing

Dancing is one of the most popular forms of exercise for people that hate the gym. It involves so many different movements that work all areas of the body, and it’s great fun as well. Find some beginner dance classes, if you don’t enjoy it, you can always try a new style. There are so many different styles and classes out there, most people should be able to find one that suits them. Ballroom or Latin dance is good for some low impact exercise or if you want to take things up a gear, look for some aerobic dance classes that are specifically designed for exercise.

Video Games

I know what you’re thinking and you’re right. Most video games are a terrible way to get active because they involve sitting down and the only movement comes from your thumbs. However, there are some that are very active. The Wii Fit is specifically designed for exercise and there are loads of great active games on the Xbox Kinect. These games are all pretty active and just half an hour is going to break a sweat.

Play An Instrument

Playing a musical instrument is a surprising way to burn calories. You aren’t going to break a sweat from the actual playing itself but the brain power you’re using is burning up a lot of calories. Most people don’t realize that mental exercise can be just as effective as physical exercise. Playing an instrument for an hour can burn as many calories as brisk walking for an hour. The same can be said for any musical instrument so whatever you play, it’s doing you some good.

There are people out there that absolutely love going to the gym every day, but they’re few and far between. For the rest of us, it’s a constant struggle trying to find motivation but it doesn’t have to be if you do these activities.
