Moving house doesn’t have to be super stressful or difficult. In fact, it is actually easier than you think, and this is especially the case if you take the right steps beforehand.
Organise your Move Early
When you are moving house, you have to avoid making any kind of last-minute decisions. Unless you have to move in a hurry, you usually have around 8 weeks to make sure that everything is ready for the big day. The earlier you can get things done the better because you never know when your date is going to be moved forward.
When you move, you will probably realise that you have a ton of unwanted stuff that you just don’t need. There is absolutely no point in you moving boxes and boxes of stuff to your new home if it is just going to be sat there unused for months. Save yourself a ton of time by getting rid of these items. You can even donate it to charity if you want, and when you do this, you can easily help someone else out.
Pack in Advance
You have to make sure that you stay as organised as possible when you are packing up your house. You also have to make sure that you get all of the packing material you need in advance too. This can include sticker labels, coloured markers and bubble-wrap. This will help you to avoid any last-minute disasters and it will also help you to keep track of everything too. If you want to avoid all of this then you need to try and get some flat pack furniture delivered.
Unless you have a friend with an empty van, you do have to make sure that you arrange for a professional mover. You will probably underestimate how many items you have in your home too, so by getting their help, you can get everything moved quickly and efficiently. If you want, you can even ask your movers to help you to reassemble things too, as this is often a service that they offer.
Picking a Van
If you are moving a short distance, then you may be able to get a small van to move your items. It is possible for you to do this in a few trips too, but take note that if you do it yourself then you won’t be insured for any breakages. This can be a problem if you are moving a lot of fragile items, for example, fish tanks or even antiques.
Change of Address
Another thing that you can do to make the move easier is to arrange your change of address well in advance. When you do this, you can then feel good knowing that everything is going to be changed over as soon as you move in. This way the only thing that you have to worry about is getting your items moved in and set up. This can buy you hours of time, and it can also alleviate a lot of stress too.
