Road Test: Air Hogs – Atmosphere and Skywinder

Road Test: Air Hogs – Atmosphere and Skywinder

Here at 17 Bright Ideas, we are all about finding great things and letting you know about them.  This weeks road test is Air Hogs.  We’ve been testing them out over the past week and now we can let you know why we think they are a bright idea.

We tested the Air Hogs RC Atmosphere and the Air Hogs Skywinder.  Details sent by Funtastic were:

Air Hogs Atmosphere atmosphere

RRP: $29.99*

Soar to new heights with the Air Hogs AtmoSphere!  This powerful levitating sphere requires no remote control and hovers above any surface. Control it with the palm of your hand or watch it fly autonomously in any space.

Its spherical shape allows the AtmoSphere to smoothly bounce off walls and ceilings for non-stop flight. Complete with a palm-sized charging cradle, the AtmoSphere is easy-to-use and recharge.

Air Hogs Skywinder skywinder

RRP: $39.99

Unleash the never before seen flight pattern of the Air Hogs Skywinder!

Toss it into the air and prepare to be blown away as it swoops, loops, dives and hovers in mid-air!  This unbelievable R/C stunt rocket is incredibly easy to fly and like nothing you’ve ever seen! Just squeeze the trigger and watch as its counter rotating blades effortlessly pull off incredible stunts.

Its flexible design makes it a perfect fit for indoor flight. And its crash resistant materials allow the Skywinder to stand up against emergency landings.

The Roadtest – We know that you are pretty busy so here is what we loved in 17 Bright Ideas style:

Powerful – They Skywinder and the Atmosphere both fly really high! They are built for indoor use and they both easily go up to the roof and bounce of the walls and furniture.  You can control the Atmosphere with your hand –  you just put it under the sphere and it lifts it really high.    The Skywinder has a remote control but again it’s so powerful that we had no trouble getting it to do stunts high up in the house.

Easy to Use – The box says the age for the toys is 8+ and this is the age group that would probably get the most out of it but our younger kids also had great fun with them.   Even my 4 yr old could easily control the Atmosphere and had loads of laughs running after it as it bounced off the lounge room walls and lounge!  The Skywinder is probably slightly more complicated to use as it has a separate remote and does tricks so would be better if you are looking for a toy for an older child.

Fun for Everyone – I don’t want to dob anyone in but there were a number of adults who also had great fun playing with the remote controlled flyers!

The kids love it – Both the Atmosphere and the Skywinder were loved by all the kids.  They loved having them zoom around the house and chase them down, competing to see who could get their hand under it first and see who could do the best tricks.  When their friends came over they were quick to pull it out and show them their new toy.  It was great to see the kids enjoying them so much.

Have they been a Bright Idea?

Absolutely.   The boys especially (even the big ones!) loved playing with it and competing over it.  A direct quote from my 6yr old “ It was really fun and I liked the way it flew into the ceiling. I think all kids would like to play with it.”

Who are they a Bright Idea for?

Boys aged 8+ or slightly younger who love all things aerobatic and acrobatic.

Thanks to Funtastic for supplying this road test.
