If you want to lose weight, save money, buy a house or go on a holiday, there needs to something within you to motivate you to get to your goal. It is easy these days to find something to aim for but actually staying motivated long enough to reach your goal can be very difficult.     Write down your goal and what the end result will be and place it somewhere where you will see it all the time - Spell out your goal clearly and be specific.  Try to include numbers, so you can measure your goal as well as a date for when you would like to achieve your goal For example, if you are aiming to lose weight, make your goal “lose 1kg a week for 8 weeks so I can look and feel great for me and my family by Dec 25th”, and put it on the fridge.

    Tell others about your goal - This way they can help. Sometimes you don’t want to tell anyone you are trying to lose weight but sometimes you feel more determined to prove to others you can do it. Also, tell someone who can give you support and help you to stay motivated.

    Think about your goal at least once during the day - Say it out loud every morning and every time you start to lose your motivation. This is an important tip when trying to stay motivated. Keep it front of mind.

    Break down your goal into small, easier tasks - If you are saving money for a holiday, make your goal to save $100 a week. It sounds more manageable than $2,400 in 6 months. You can do the same with weight or giving up cigarettes etc.
